A one-of-a-kind lighting sculpture, commissioned by the City of Atlanta for the Arrivals Hall at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Inspired by the otherworldly formation of mammatocumulus clouds, and grounded in the physics of catenary curves, Mammatus was designed in RHINO using Grasshopper parametric modeling software. Made with over 8 miles of nickel-plated bead chain, the sculpture weighs 3000 pounds.
8'H x 24'W x 42'L. Aluminum, Philips Color Kinetics RGB LED computer controlled luminaires, nickel-plated brass bead chain.
